How Coaching Works

FIRST: Why do I need a coach?

You don't have to be on this journey alone.

A coach is your thought partner, cheerleader, eye-opener, perspective shifter, challenger and supporter as you clarify what you want and plan your next steps. To achieve your goals you must move out of your comfort zone. Your coach will help you navigate the journey.

Change is never easy. You must learn to dance with it.

My Approach to Coaching

I partner with my clients to uncover areas for opportunity and growth and help them deal with obstacles they face as they pursue their goals. Using assessment tools and the principles of neuroscience, positive psychology, Positive Intelligence, stakeholder feedback and other tools, I help my clients build the self-awareness, confidence and skills they need to excel.

I believe that you know, deep down, what you want for yourself.

And I believe that you have it in you to get it. 

A little help clarifying your goals and moving you forward may be just the nudge you need.

How it Works - What Does a coaching engagement look like?

What we do over the course of the engagement:
 

  • Clarify the values and beliefs that you want to honor.

  • Define what success means to you.

  • Determine how far are you from your ideal life.

  • What needs to change?

  • Identify the strengths & skills you bring to the journey.

  • Build new skills, habits and self-awareness.

  • Overcome obstacles and explore new opportunities.

  • Create an action and accountability plan.

  • Work the plan; reflect, make changes as needed.

SEEK - What does your desired outcome look like?
OPTIONS - What are your options? What strengths/skills do you bring?
ACT - What do you need to do to get you where you want to go?
REFLECT - What can you celebrate? What changes might you need to make?
I use a coaching model that I developed called "The SOAR Method" to explore possibilities, identify a direction, build skills and perspectives and move to action. Then we reflect and adjust as necessary along the way.
